DAKAR 2026, STAGE 7 RESULTS

After the rest day, Dakar resumed with a fast day in the dunes. Luciano Benavides completed the course of the 459 km special in four hours, romping home with 4′47″ to spare over Edgar Canet and 4′57″ over Adrien Van Beveren, who delivered his finest performance since the start in Yanbu. The KTM rider is still third after his show of strength, but a mere 15 seconds from Ricky Brabec. This was his seventh Dakar stage win. Not bad at all.
The top 3 overall remains the same, with Daniel Sanders perched at the summit, but his third place today will put him at a disadvantage tomorrow compared to his closest pursuer, Ricky Brabec (+4′25″), who will start the next stage in tenth position, 21 minutes after the Australian. The Monster Energy Honda HRC is known for his strategic acumen and could turn the situation to his advantage.

Ricky Brabec, stage 7

Ricky Brabec: “Back at it for week two, nothing super special on my end today. Lost a bit of time but I’m happy for the position today provided me with. Today’s special was fairly fast overall, with some technical navigation points, rocks , and dunes. Did the best job I could so let’s continue this week and keep it honest.”

Skyler Howes: “Full gas day! 115kph average speed (71.5mph) a section of dunes thrown in there and a couple tricky bits of navigation. Not much to report other than I spent most of the day with my belly on the seat trying to stay at top speed as long as possible!”Daniel Sanders extended his lead over Ricky Brabec to 4’25”, but the man from Down Under is wary of the pendulum effect. “Chucky” is looking forward to a decisive stage.

Daniel Sanders remains in control of the overall, stretching it out slightly today. “I made one mistake at the start and lost two or three minutes, unfortunately. It was hard to catch the guys in front because there was such a fast navigation track and it was really hard to make a difference. After the second refuel, the guys pulled over and waited for me, calculating the bonus. I just put the hammer down and checked away from them to make sure they didn’t get any bonus. I feel good today. I’m ready for the big day tomorrow.”

Preston Campbell, stage 7

Preston Campbell remains in charge of the Rally2 standings, but Toni Mulec is closing in, minute by minute. Today Mulec was second behind Mickael Docherty while Campbell was fifth in class.
