1995 HONDA CR500 PRO X BUILD : 2-STROKE TUESDAY

The 1995 Honda CR500R project featured on this week’s Two-Stroke Tuesday  is a flashback to a time in history when men were men and real men raced big-bore two-strokes on the regular. Well thats kinda true, but it was almost thirty years ago now so no one is going to question it and if we are being honest we just wanted a reason to build a CR500 so we teamed up with Jay Clark to make it happen. 

The man, the myth, the legend, Jay Clark was all smiles in the studio with his finished CR500 project.

 

There are a host of companies like FMF, ProX, Wiseco, Clarke Manufacturing, Works Connection, IMS and more that still make parts for these ’90s era two-strokes and we love it! 

 Internally a combination of ProX , Wiseco , Cometic and Rekluse parts were used in the rebuild process. Tom Morgan ported the cylinder, modified the head with a De-Comp system, performed proprietary carburetor mods, rebuilt and balanced the crank before it was all bolted back together by Brad at Para Pros using brand new Specbolt fasteners

Completely rebuilt hubs with some specialty coatings, new Nacstar black hoops wrapped in new Dunlop MX34’s.

Works Connection is one of those companies applying modern technology for use on older two-strokes with multiple items like this clutch perch system.

A rebuilt CR500 engine with new hardware from Specbolt gives us goosebumps .

IMS Products old school Pro Series pegs are an upgrade from the OEM Honda units that you just can’t appreciate unless you experience the difference first hand.

Other engine performance items included FMF complete exhaust, Mototassinari V-Force reed cage, dual stage Uni air filter and some VP Race Fuels. 

There is no such thing as “A Quick” ’90s era build! Good ones are time consuming and can be extremely expensive but man when they are completed and come out looking like this Jay Clark built 1995 Honda CR500 they are one hundred percent worth it!
