Stark Future has just announced the new Varg EX. This model is designed to hit the dual-sport market and will be licensable in all 50 states. It has increased range, more robust lighting and full DOT compliance. It has a range of 1.3 to 1.6 hours of riding time and a charging time of 1 to 2 hours with a 240-volt outlet. The engineers are currently looking into adaptors that will allow the EX to be charged at remote stations that support a J1772 connector or perhaps even a Tesla station, but that’s still in the future. For now, the EX will have the same charge-at-home apparatus that the motocross version uses. It will be available in two versions; the standard 60hp model is $12,900 and the Alpha 80hp EX is $13,900. The full press release from Stark Future appears below: The Stark Varg EX is a fully licensable dual-sport bike. Barcelona, December 10, 2024 — Stark Future is proud to announce the launch of the Stark VARG EX, a ground-breaking innovation poised to revolutionize the world of Enduro motorcycling. Three years after introducing the motocross game-changer, the Stark VARG MX, Stark Future takes a bold leap forward with its first road-legal motorcycle. This electric powerhouse redefines performance, sustainability, and versatility. UNMATCHED PERFORMANCE MEETS UNRIVALLED VERSATILITY The drivetrain of the Stark VARG EX delivers a stunning 80hp, making it the most powerful Enduro bike on the market. Riders can customize the bike’s performance with options for power delivery, engine braking, and regenerative curves, all adjustable via the handlebar control switch (5 modes available). Whether mimicking the nimbleness of a 125cc two-stroke or the brute power of a 450cc four-stroke, the VARG EX offers unparalleled adaptability. The 7.2 kWh honeycomb magnesium battery not only powers the bike but also serves as a structural component, contributing to a lightweight and centralized design. The battery delivers a 20% longer range compared to the VARG MX and can be fully recharged in just two hours using the included charging stand. Its energy efficiency and durability set a new benchmark in Enduro engineering. REVOLUTIONARY ROAD-LEGAL DESIGN The VARG EX is more than an off-road marvel—it’s fully road-legal. Riders can legally take it on the streets in countries across Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of the United States. With A1 license compatibility and even car-license accessibility in Southern Europe, the VARG EX is set to broaden the appeal of Enduro riding. Whether connecting trails, commuting to work, or simply exploring, the VARG EX redefines convenience and accessibility. Key road-ready features include: • Patent-pending flexible indicators crafted from durable optical silicone for superior longevity. • A 4,000-lumen headlamp, three times brighter than any competitor, providing exceptional visibility for night rides. • A sleek, integrated license plate holder that combines durability with aesthetic precision. ENGINEERED FOR PRECISION AND COMFORT The VARG EX’s chassis is meticulously crafted from high-strength steel, ensuring optimal vertical and horizontal flex for superior cornering grip and control. The lightweight carbon-fiber subframe doubles as a cooling funnel for the drivetrain, while the KYB-tuned suspension provides flawless balance and adaptability for both traditional Enduro and extreme riding conditions. Key engineering highlights include: • A patented skid plate reinforced with impact-absorbing foam, offering unparalleled durability. • A chain guide with 266% increased lateral stiffness for unmatched reliability. • KYB suspension: Closed cartridge forks and triple-adjustable shocks tuned specifically for Enduro, offering 300mm of travel. • CNC-machined 6082 T6 aluminum hubs, Italian-crafted high- grade steel spokes, and Japanese alloy rims for customizable wheel configurations, including tube or mousse options. ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY FOR SEAMLESS ADVENTURES The VARG EX features the revolutionary Stark Arkenstone—a cutting-edge, military-grade Android device integrated into the bike. This navigation and control system allows riders to: • GPS trail recording and turn-by-turn navigation developed with a leading map provider. • On-the-go adjustment of power, engine braking, and regeneration settings. • Community sharing options to upload and follow rider trails. The VARG EX also incorporates a redesigned map switch with waterproof and impact-resistant aluminum housing, routing cables internally for protection against wear. This level of innovation ensures every ride is intuitive, personalized, and fun, whether you’re an experienced rider or just starting your Enduro journey. SUSTAINABILITY MEETS COST EFFICIENCY The VARG EX reinforces Stark Future’s commitment to sustainability. Its efficient electric drivetrain eliminates the need for traditional components like pistons, clutches, and oil changes, reducing maintenance costs to levels comparable to a mountain bike. Noise-free, emissions-free, and eco-friendly, the VARG EX offers an exciting ride with minimal environmental impact. Backed by a two-year warranty, the VARG EX sets a new standard for quality, reliability, and cost efficiency in the motorcycle industry. “The VARG EX embodies everything we stand for at Stark Future,” said Anton Wass, CEO and Founder of Stark Future. “It’s designed to challenge and inspire the motorcycle industry to embrace sustainability by proving that electric technology can outperform gas in every aspect. With the VARG EX, we’re creating a bike that opens up new possibilities for riders, whether it’s conquering trails, commuting through the city, or simply riding anywhere, anytime. PRE-ORDERS AND CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS The VARG EX offers an unprecedented level of customization, including: • Titanium upgrades for footpegs, bolts, and shafts to further reduce weight. • A choice of five different tire options, available with tubes, tubeless setups, or mousse. • Personalizable Brembo brakes, with flexible placement on the handlebar or footpeg (handlebar fitment included free for U.S. customers). The bike will be available in two configurations: • Standard (60hp): USD $12,900 • Alpha (80hp): USD $13,900 Pre-orders are open now, with worldwide shipping beginning in Q1. Since his retirement from racing himself, Kailub Russell has been deeply involved with KTM’s off-road effort, coaching and training riders. That has come to an end. Over the weekend, KTM sent out a press release thanking Kailub for his service. No further announcements have yet been made, but the presumption is that he will return to GNCC racing for the 2025 season on a different team. The most likely place for Kailub Russell to do that is Randy Hawkin’s Ampro Yamaha team. We expect that confirmation to come soon. The official press release follows: MURRIETA, Calif. – KTM North America, Inc. extends its thanks to Kailub Russell following an incredibly successful partnership over more than a decade including his entire professional racing career, which most recently has included training the group’s offroad riders at his Ranch Russell facility in North Carolina and Florida. As part of the FMF KTM Factory Racing Team through his legendary racing career, Russell amassed a record eight-consecutive Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series Overall Championships between 2013 and 2020 prior to hanging up his helmet from full-time offroad competition at that point of his career. Russell achieved 67 GNCC Overall victories, which also stands as a record in the high-profile U.S. series, and he has two GNCC XC2 250 Pro Class Championships that he won in 2009 and 2010. In addition, the now 34-year-old claimed an AMA National Enduro Championship in 2015 and is a three-time Full Gas Sprint Enduro Series Champion from 2015, 2019 and 2020. On an international scale, Russell has twice formed part of Team USA’s winning World Trophy Team effort at the FIM 6DAYS (International Six-Days Enduro), including the 2016 and 2019 editions. All of his championships came onboard KTM machinery, making him one of the most decorated offroad riders in the sport’s history. Since electing to stop racing himself, Russell has been instrumental in the success of KTM, Husqvarna and GASGAS team riders throughout the past four seasons between 2021-2024 in a training and coaching capacity. His knowledge and assistance has led to immense ongoing success, including his contribution with the group to achieve a total of five National and five Regional titles – most notably being the GNCC Overall Championships with Johnny Girroir in 2024 and Craig DeLong in 2023. Antti Kallonen, Director of Offroad Racing: “We want to thank Kailub for his dedication and effort the last four seasons helping our athletes to succeed and win championships for all three of our brands. We want to wish him the best for the future and truly appreciate the championships he won himself and the ones he helped our athletes to win. Thank you, Kailub.” The post KAILUB RUSSELL DEPARTS KTM, PREPARES FOR RETURN TO RACING appeared first on Dirt Bike Magazine. Просмотреть полный текст статьи

Malcolm Smith (1941-2024), who many consider to be America’s most-renowned and best-loved motorcyclist, has died from complications of Parkinson’s disease, which he battled for more than two decades. He was 83. Smith passed away at home in Riverside, Calif., on November 26, peacefully and surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife Joyce, daughters Louise and Ashley, sons Joel and Alexander, granddaughters Evie, Adeline, Amelie, Miley and Claire, and grandsons Ethan, Malcolm and Conrad. In his final year he welcomed his newest grandchildren, Malcolm, Conrad and Claire, and was thrilled to watch his granddaughters learn to ride motorcycles. During his 83 years, Smith did it all: Rider. Racer. ISDT gold medalist. Shop tech. Service manager. Repair shop owner. Aftermarket distributor. Retail store owner. Actor. Sponsor. Philanthropist. Pro-motorcycling advocate. Father. Grandfather. Friend. And much more. But over and above all that, Malcolm Smith was everyman’s motorcyclist, an enthusiastic, fun-loving, driven and talented example of what motorcycling could do and be for the everyday enthusiast, and how the sport could affect our lives in unimaginable ways. Funeral and memorial services are pending. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Malcolm’s favorite charity, the Malcolm Smith Motorsports Foundation, which supports the children of Baja. More than decade ago. Malcolm Smith wrote these words for the final chapter of his acclaimed 2015 autobiography: “It all started for me on March 9, 1941, in a small rural hospital in the village of Ganges, on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada… “Where it will end, no one knows. But you can be sure I’m going to enjoy every minute I have left, with a smile on my face, and my family nearby. Can’t ask for more than that.” You can’t, and he didn’t…and the world’s motorcycling fans are better for it. Godspeed. For such a small company, Beta is being pretty aggressive lately. The company’s off-road bikes have undergone some pretty substantial changes for 2025–to the point that they figured they should have a new name. The standard RR models are now called the X-Pro models. We just took delivery of our first Beta test bike of the 2025 model year. It’s the 200cc two-stroke. Once upon a time the 200cc off-road bike was the backbone of American off-road riding. Now, Beta is the only one in the pool and we can’t figure out why. It’s a great size for true trail riding. The 200RR X-Pro sells for $9499. The new Pro X models all feature a new frame with a 20mm lower seat height, a new single-spring front fork, elastomeric handlebar mounts, a coolant overflow reservoir and a rescue strap on the front fender as standard equipment. The bodywork is new for 2025 as well. It still has oil-injection, two maps available on the fly, a mechanical power valve, a carburetor and push-button seat removal. The Sachs ZF SHC front fork is lighter and now uses only one spring in the right side. There’s also a preload adjuster on the right while the compression and rebound damping are handled on the left. Beta’s off-road bikes have an electronic key. Pete Murray on the Beta RR X-Pro. So far we have only a couple of days on the 200. We still think there’s nothing better for a certain kind of riding. Any tight trail that has twists, turns, rocks and surprises is 200 territory. The Beta isn’t exactly like the 200s we remember from the past. Back in the KTM and KDX days, those bikes were tuned for all low end power and nothing else. The Beta has that, but it can also move out when the need arises. It’s not far off a modern 125 motocross bike in peak power. Way up top, the Beta goes flat, but by then it’s given all the things that two-stroke off-road bike fans love. At low-rpm it’s virtually unstoppable. It never stalls and the power delivery is super smooth. It also seems like today’s two-strokes are all blessed with excellent jetting. In truth, this is more about advancement in ignition systems, because the carburetor on the 200 isn’t that different from what we had in the old days. It’s a garden variety Keihin PWK 36mm. If you ride at idle speed for extended periods, it will load up slightly, but clean out immediately when the trail opens up. So far, we are completely on board with the new fork. The Sachs ZF fork is still soft, even by trail bike standards, but we’re okay with that. It makes for a plush ride on those tight, slow trails that call out for small-displacement two-strokes. If there’s any hiccup in the program, it’s the bike’s price. It sells for $9499. Beta does offer an escape route for those who remember when 200 two-strokes cost $3999. The Beta 125RR Pro X is 80 percent the same and sells for almost $1000 less. You just have to do your own kickstarting. We’ll ride the bike right up to the deadline for the February, 2025 print edition of Dirt Bike. MORE PROJECTS Mark Tilley on the Husky TC125 that helped Carson Tryon win the Glen Helen Endurance series. Last month’s 24 Hours of Glen Helen was a very big deal around here. Even though Team SLR with Justin Morgan, Ryan Surratt Brandon Prieto and Tyler Lynn were the big winners of the 24, there was also a series winner crowned at that event. Carson Tryon did well enough in all three events to be crowned the Glen Helen Endurance Champion of 2024, and he did it on a couple of 125s. The Husky TC 125 was a Dirt Bike test bike that will be featured in the February, 2025 print issue. 250 MX SHOOTOUT The February print edition of Dirt Bike will also feature our 2025 250 MX shootout. It’s an eight-bike affair this year with the addition of the Triumph TF250X. We were surprised at how quickly our test riders warmed up to the new brand. It was actually voted the best in several categories. The bike were rated in Power, Power Delivery, Stability, Cornering, Front Suspension, Rear Suspension and Detailing. no single bike was able to sweep all the categories with five-star rating across the board. On this week’s Two-Stroke Tuesday we take another look with some unseen photos of a very unique Yamaha YZ345 built by fabricator Howard Jenkins of MotoFab Industries located in central California. Could you imagine a YZ250 two-stroke engine dropping right into a newer Yamaha four-stroke chassis without any major frame modifications? Well, it might just be possible! The topic in our 2-Stroke History section this week is Suzuki’s RM250 and could it be the best used bike ever. Don’t miss our Behind The Build of Mike Browns FXR/Rockstar Yamaha YZ250 at the bottom of this post! So what if we told you a Yamaha YZ250 two-stroke engine would fit into newer four-stroke chassis without cutting huge sections of the frame away? True story Howard Jenkins CEO of MotoFab Industries in central California had a customer that really wanted to make this bike a reality and he was excited about the challenge of creating something truly different. This is our first build with the 345 kit the MotoFab crew has done and are excited to feel it put power to the ground. Eddie Saunders (ESR) designs and manufactures the entire cylinder kit in house except for the casting which he has casted in California. The most unique aspect to the cylinder is the power valve design. The main exhaust port actuation is driven by exhaust pressure and can be adjusted to fasten or slow its operation based on the spring tension. The two exhaust side ports are open all the time with no actuation at all. With more than a year of development the MotoFab intake for the YZ345 has been finalized. This one piece carbon fiber system utilizes the stock air box placement providing a larger volume of air in the system before being restricted by the air filter and is giving better performance on the bottom end. The system has a rubber grommet that presses into the opening of the part at the carburetor that allows for the OEM air boot clamp to make the seal. At the other end it’s connected to the intake boot with a small section on silicone turbo hose that gives the system the ability to flex. Attachment is made to the sub-frame with molded carbon tab at both sides of the subframe. This YZ345 has a unique wide ratio transmission setup featuring YZ 1st and 2nd gears and WR 3rd, 4th, and 5th. The WR 1st gear the MotoFab crew felt was too low and love the combination of YZ 2nd and WR3rd because the YZ 2nd and WR 3rd are more closely geared than the stock setup from either the YZ or the WR and give a great combination for woods or trail riding. With Yamaha focusing so much on centralizing mass for the four-stroke version the MotoFab crew positioned the YZ250 two-stroke engine as low as we could in the chassis wanting to keep the weight low. With the much shorter 2-stroke engine and forward facing cylinder, the motor weight in the bike is lower and further forward. They hope it gives the bike a more “planted and stable” feel. 2-STROKE HISTORY The story of the Suzuki RM250 isn’t just about a single motorcycle. It’s about a dynasty of bikes, championships and riders that goes back to a glorious era in the history of motocross. Click the image below for the full story! CLICK THE IMAGE FOR FULL STORY 2-STROKE BEHIND THE BUILD Mike Brown has raced at the highest level of motocross, Supercross and off-road for factory-level teams during a career that has spanned over three decades. The 47-year-old racer is no longer competing to put food on the table, but is now doing selected events for Yamaha, FXR and Rockstar Energy just for fun. Click the image below for the full story! We got the opportunity to spend a day riding the 2025 Triumph TF450RC last week and came away wanting more. This is the 450cc version of the TF250X released one year ago. As expected, it has a chassis very similar to that of the 250. It’s aluminum with a central backbone, and has KYB suspension. The motor is completely new. It has a single overhead cam, Athena/GET fuel injection and a full portfolio of electronic aids, including multiple maps, traction control, launch assist and Quickshift. This bike is a special version called the Ricky Carmichael Edition. The plot twist is that there is no standard edition for 2025. Presumably, there will be later, but for now, if you want a Triumph 450, this is it. This bike has a number of features that Ricky signed off on, including ODI bars, Dunlop tires, a gripper seat cover and a fork hold down (holeshot) device. Join us at the Triumph testing facility outside of Atlanta, Georgia for our first experience on the bike. Who are the off-road riders who have made their mark on history? These are the champions of the most prestigious forms of off-road racing in the U.S., past and present. For many years, the AMA National Enduro Series was the most hotly contested title in the U.S. Then, in the ’90s, the emphasis gradually shifted to the GNCC series, which had started off as the 100-Miler series. In the west, it was the AMA National Hare and Hound series that long held the highest priority for off-road racing. In 2001, Dave Hamel created the WORCS series and we then saw another shift in priority. In 2019, the AMA promoted the regional Big 6 series to National Championship status, and now that series is called the National Grand Prix Championship and has increased prestige. In the 2000s, we saw a new form of racing take root based on European enduros. We called it sprint enduro, and the Full Gas Sprint Enduro series saw immediate success. The US Sprint Enduro Series was spawned in 2021. Along the way there have been a number of one-off events that had their own impact. America is a great, big place. Accordingly, we have a wide diversity of off-road racing. No one rider could possibly do it all, but there are some who travel from coast to coast on a weekly basis. Red Bull KTM rider Trystan Hart clinched his second consecutive EnduroCross Championship in Everett, Washington this week. The series consisted of six races condensed into two months of racing, and Hart claimed four of the overall victories. Colton Haaker and Jonny Walker won a round apiece, but Walker returned to Europe, missing the final two rounds while Haaker had a disastrous final race this weekend. Cody Webb returned to action after wrist surgery for the final two rounds and secured a podium in his debut ride, but then suffered mishap after mishap in his final race. The other riders to derail the Hart express were Ryder LeBlond, who won the first race of event number one and Max Gerston, who won the second race at Everett. Each EnduroCross event consists of three races for the pro class as well as a Hot Lap competition. Interestingly enough, Hart usually conceded the top spot in the Hot Lap to other riders. In Everett, Cooper Abbott was the fastest man. Shelby Turner had a perfect season in the Pro Women’s class winning every race of every round. Ryder LeBlond Trystan Hart: “I was a little nervous coming into tonight, but I only needed 14 points to clinch the title – you just know anything can happen in EnduroCross. The goal was to win the Hot Lap, but I got second in that because I made a mistake, and then I went on to win the first moto. In Moto 2, I was trying to win and fell in that one, before in the final moto I went on to win it, so got the overall and the championship! What more can you ask for? A perfect way to wrap up the season for me.” Colton Haaker 2024 ENDUROCROSS EX PRO POINT STANDINGS, FINAL TRYSTAN HART 170 COLTON HAAKER 132 COOPER ABBOTT 111 JONNY WALKER 94 MAX GERSTON 93 RYDER LEBLOND 92 DOMINIK OLSZOWY 90 TIM APOLLE 74 BRANDEN PETRIE 72 BRAXTON HINTZE 66 WILL RIORDAN 55 ANTHONY JOHNSON 49 JAMES FLYNN 38 CODY MILLER 38 CODY WEBB 36 JADEN DAHNERS 30 DUSTIN MCCARTHY 28 SPENSER WILTON 20 DUSTIN HEDWALL 11 BLAKE NEVILLE 10 KAMAKANA WAIWAIOLE 6 KRISTJAN THORDARSON 5 For more results, go to https://endurocross.com/ The post HART CLINCHES 2024 ENDUROCROSS TITLE appeared first on Dirt Bike Magazine. We took delivery of a Chinese-built GPX TSE300R two-stroke a few weeks ago. The guys at USA Motortoys in Utah are the importers and architects of the GPX line. The TSE300 is miles ahead of the products that China was offering a few years ago. The fit and finish are excellent. The casting, machining and assembly can compare to any product produced elsewhere. But, it still has some issues. The most obvious is a lack of originality. The chassis is a dead ringer for a pre-2022 KTM 300XC-W. And, when you scratch the surface there are still some issues that become apparent. Jared Hicks on the GPX 300. The real reason that some of these issues exist is because the importer is trying to keep the price tag around the $7000 mark. The MSRP is $6899. That compares to $11,599 for a KTM 300 two-stroke. The GPX and KTM motors are both case-reed two-strokes with a bore and stroke of 72mm by 72mm. They both have counterbalancers, electric starters and hydraulic clutches. The current KTM has moved to fuel injection and an electronic power valve, whereas the GPX is still using a carburetor and a mechanical power valve driven by a ball-ramp governor. The TSE300 comes in under $7000 and weighs 240 pounds without fuel. The GPX chassis is the spitting image of the ‘22 KTM 300XC-W, too. That means the rear suspension has no linkage. The fork and shock are made in China by SZC. The fork appears to be a copy of a WP Xplor. It has adjustable preload as well as rebound adjustment in the right and compression in the left. The shock is fully adjustable and is also very WP-like, at least externally. The carburetor is a Nibbi, which performs well. The triple clamps look like CNC-machined billet KTM clamps and any quality difference is virtually impossible to quantify. Same goes for the hubs. The GPX has a bright LED headlight, a radiator fan and a back-up kickstart lever, in case the lithium battery fails. The motor has a power valve adjuster similar to a KTM’s. Ours ran best two turns clockwise from flush with the cases. When you ride the GPX, you quickly learn it’s not slow–not by any means. The GPX has a big midrange kick. The motor comes on strong and fast, does its work and then signs off. In terms of peak power, it can hold its own with most off-road two-strokes. The powerband is, however, very brief. When it’s done, it’s done. It has a power valve adjuster just like a KTM’s. Ours came with the adjuster flush with the cases. Turns out, the power delivery was much smoother and the bike ran better with the adjuster two turns in. After that, the hit wasn’t as harsh and the bike was much easier to ride, although it still didn’t have the low-end or over-rev that we would like. The guys at Motortoys USA are the importers for GPX, and they say there’s another two-stroke in the works for release soon. In overall handling the bike works like what it is; a KTM copy. That’s a great bike to use as your benchmark. The GPX turns well and has excellent overall stability. The suspension is the sore point. The GPX is soft, but not really very cushy. When you roll through rocks at a casual speed everything is great, but, when you encounter sharp edges or hit anything hard, the suspension transmits the impact straight upstairs. With no-linkage rear suspension, the TSE300R has good ground clearance, just like the PDS system it emulates. GPX also has a linkage version of the same bike called the TSE300L. Overall, though, the GPX shows outstanding quality and skilled workmanship mixed with wonky final settings and a lack of real testing. The bike still offers outstanding value. We know there are haters out there who will say that the concept of making such a blatant copy of another company’s product is an illegitimate way to do business. Those same people overlooks the fact that the engine internals of a Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki or Yamaha are almost identical. The concept of copying has been pretty widespread for a very long time. You can check out the full test of the GPX 300 in the January, 2025 print edition of Dirt Bike. 11th ANNUAL KURT CASELLI RIDE DAY Join the KC Foundation on Saturday, Dec 7 at Fox Raceway for a day of riding and fun, celebrating the legacy of Kurt Caselli. The EICMA show in Milan has once again become the official start of new model season for most of Europe. There were a few Covid years when Milan seemed to be fading in importance, but for 2025 it was as big and strong as ever. Those of us in the dirt bike industry have become accustomed to seeing new models mid-summer, but for the adventure bike segment and now the electric bike segment, EICMA is were we often get our first look at things to come. The Pioneer is a new electric model from Husqvarna. This is very similar to the new KTM Freeride E, which was announced a month ago. Previously, KTM outsourced the drive train for the Freeride, which has been in the line for over 10 years. Now the Pierer group has brought it all in house. The Voge Valico Rally 800DS is typical of many new adventure bikes that are arriving. It is equipped with a new 798cc parallel-twin engine, said to deliver 94 HP and 81 Nm of torque, which the rider can control through various riding modes. The transmission is a 6-speed with a hydraulic slipper clutch. Yamaha has given the T7 some attention. It now has a ride-by-wire throttle and ride modes that can be selected on the fly. The fuel tank is said to be relocated for a lower CG. Fantic has some of the coolest bikes, most of which are based on Yamaha models. We were previously told that Yamaha Motors USA would not permit Fantic motorcycle to be imported to the U.S., but that might be changing. Fantic has an electric-start 300cc two-stroke that uses a Yamaha frame and at least part of a Yamaha YZ250 motor. It’s called the XE300. Why can’t Yamaha make that? Another Yamaha based Fantic model is the XEF 310. This is a punched-out version of the YZ250FX. Ducati has a huge presence at the Milan show every year. Most of it is dedicated to road-going bikes, but the Desmo 450 motocross bike was there, complete with Tony Cairoli’s numbers. Not much information was available. This is a Chinese-made two-stroke made by Chongqing Hengjian. It appears to borrow heavily from KTM. Chongqing Hengjian also ha a DOHC 250cc four-stroke. It seemed like there were small Surron-style electric bikes in every booth. Sherco has a large display. The 125 dual-sport model was delayed in the U.S. but is here now. BMW had a 450cc concept adventure bike. This has no relationship to the 450 that BMW had 10 years ago; it’s a twin and has a very strong GS vibe. The KTM 390 Enduro R is a new, more off-road legitimate version of the existing 390 Adventure. CF Moto has a partnership with KTM. The 800 MTX might or might not have KTM blood running in its veins, It has a very strong resemblance to the KTM 790 Adventure that CF Moto is assembling for KTM. Kove is wide open. This is the 800X adventure bike. The newest version of the Aprilia 660 Toureg is also dirtier than before. The Kove Moto E shoud be showing up in the U.S. next summer. Kove’s new 450 motocross bike. See you next time! –Ron Lawson The post ELECTRIC BIKES, ADV BIKES AND MORE FROM MILAN SHOW 2024: THE WRAP appeared first on Dirt Bike Magazine. Просмотреть полный текст статьи

We love two-strokes! Luckily, so do many other riders and the 2025 collection of two-strokes is as big and diverse as ever. We have bikes from Beta, GasGas, Husqvarna, KTM, Sherco, GPX, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Cobra and many others. Below, you will find photos, prices and information on all the two-stroke models currently imported into the U.S. BETA 300RR/250RR X-PRO (OFF-ROAD): $9899/$9699 Beta opens a new chapter in 2025. The standard RR models are now called the “X-Pro” editions. These have oil injection and a trail-friendly disposition. They feature a new frame with a 20mm-lower seat height, an all-new single-spring front fork, elastomeric handlebar mounts, a coolant reservoir and a rescue strap on the front fender. The bodywork also has a new look. BETA 300RX (MOTOCROSS): $9499 Beta is still new to the motocross world but attracting attention and making waves. The 300RX two-stroke was the company’s first MX bike and has now benefited from development of the 450RX four-stroke. The 300’s frame now has a larger backbone, a new aluminum subframe and refinement in other areas, including suspension, porting and transmission. BETA XTRAINER (OFF-ROAD): $8499 The Xtrainer (Beta pronounces it “Crosstrainer”) is now in its 11th year of production and has been a sales success due to its lower price and entry-level disposition. Compared to the standard two-strokes in Beta’s line, the Xtrainer has a lower seat height, softer suspension and a gentler power delivery. It has a new look for 2025 with a distinctive gray theme. GASGAS EX300/EX250 (OFF-ROAD): $10,749/$10,449 GasGas is a blood brother to KTM and Husqvarna, but comes in with slightly lower pricing. Accordingly, the map switch costs extra, and a number of components, like the Braktec hydraulics, are different from those on the other Pierer brands. The EX line is aimed at cross-country racing, using the same updated frame as the motocross version. GASGAS EC300/EC250 (OFF-ROAD): $10,799/$10,499 These are the more trail-oriented models from GasGas. Compared to the EX cross-country racers and the MC motocross bikes, they have a smoother power delivery and softer suspension. They also feature oil injection. These models have the Keihin throttle-body fuel-injection system, which is integrated with the electronic power valve. GASGAS MC300/MC250 (MOTOCROSS): $8849/$8649 For 2025, the MC300 motocross bike is new to the GasGas lineup. It is similar to the KTM 300SX that was introduced last year, but has a lower price. Both the MC250 and MC300 get the new frame this year that was introduced throughout the KTM family of brands. It has more compliant flex characteristics and is mated to new suspension settings and refined mapping. HUSQVARNA TX300 (OFF-ROAD): $11,699 The Husky TX line has only one model for 2025—the TX300. This is the two-stroke counterpart to the FX four-stroke line and is aimed at cross-country racing. The TX has the newest generation of the throttle-body fuel-injection system, and has a map switch for toggling between mild and wild power delivery. The gearbox is a six-speed, and the fork is the spring version of the WP Xact. HUSQVARNA TE300/TE250 (OFF-ROAD): $11,699/$11,349 In the past, the differences between the trail-oriented TE models and the TX cross-country racer were subtle. Not now. The TE300 and 250 are much milder, softer, friendlier and more appropriate for trail riding. They still have a map switch, so you can alter the power delivery between mild and aggressive. Later in the year, there will be a TE300 Pro special edition with upgraded accessories. HUSQVARNA TC300/TC250 (MOTOCROSS): $9699/$9499 The era of the Open-class two-stroke has returned! Husqvarna has joined the movement with its own version of the 300 motocrosser. It burns premix and has a five-speed gearbox. The TC300 and its near-twin TC250 use the throttle-body fuel-injection system and electronic power valve with electric start. The frame is the latest generation, as well as the WP suspension. KTM 300XC/250XC (OFF-ROAD): $11,499/$11,199 KTM has been refining its throttle-body fuel-injection system for almost two years, and now the latest version is in the 300XC and 250XC cross-country bikes. These models are six-speeds with linkage rear suspension and the spring version of the WP Xact fork. Unlike the XC-Ws, the 300XC and 250XC do not have oil injection. A map switch is standard equipment. KTM 300XC-W/250XC-W (OFF-ROAD): $11,599/$11,199 If you’re a fan of PDS no-linkage rear suspension, the XC-W line has you in its crosshairs. These machines are designed for hard-core trail use, as well as extreme enduros and feature oil injection. They also have throttle-body EFI integrated with an electronic power valve. The XC-Ws have map switches to tailor the power delivery. There is a Hard Enduro special edition of the 300XC-W for $13,299. KTM 300SX/250SX (MOTOCROSS): $9599/$9349 Last year, the 300SX two-stroke was a big hit with two-stroke purists, and it was a beast. Both the 300SX and the 250SX have been refined for 2025 with a new more compliant frame and updated mapping. They use 5-speed gearboxes and old-school premix, but the kickstarter is a thing of the past. Suspension is via linkage in the rear and the WP Xact air fork in front. RIEJU 300MR 6DAYS SPAIN (OFF-ROAD): $10,699 For 2025, Rieju will be featuring an all-new two-stroke motor across most of its line. That motor will be revealed at the EICMA show this fall. In the meantime, fans of the traditional two-stroke motor can still have it in the 6Days Spain edition. That’s the last vestige of the GasGas off-road motorcycles that were developed in Spain prior to the Pierer acquisition. SHERCO SE300/SE250 FACTORY (OFF-ROAD): $11,999/$11,799 Sherco continues to make subtle refinements rather than complete makeovers. The SE300 and 250 still have electronic power valves and Keihin carburetors, but both have new bodywork for 2025. The handguards, the skid plate and the instrument visibility have all been refined. The 250 also has a new gearbox that was designed and built in-house at the Nimes factory. GPX TSE250R (OFF-ROAD): $5699 GPX is a brand based in Utah and manufactured in mainland Asia. The TSE250R has been around long enough to prove itself in terms of reliability, and the guys in Utah are here to stay. The bike features a six-speed gearbox in what resembles an early ’90s Yamaha motor. The chassis and bodywork have a distinct KTM look. Virtually all the components are well finished, but the price is the star of the show. YAMAHA YZ250 MONSTER ENERGY EDITION (MOTOCROSS): $8199 Last year, Yamaha didn’t offer the Monster Energy Edition of the YZ250 two-stroke because it was upstaged by the 50th Anniversary Edition, prompted by the anniversary of Yamaha’s participation in pro motocross. Now, the Monster Energy Edition is back with a fresh take on the theme with black plastic and blue rims. Mechanically, it’s the same as the standard version. YAMAHA YZ250 (MOTOCROSS): $7999 Yamaha’s commitment to tradition is still intact, and it remains the only Japanese company with full-size two-strokes. That commitment is limited, however, to sporadic updates. The YZ250 got new bodywork in 2022, along with a new airbox and subframe. The 2025 version is mechanically unchanged since then. It still has well-regarded KYB suspension and a case-reed motor that goes back to the end of the last century. YAMAHA YZ250X (OFF-ROAD): $8099 Yamaha made the YZ250 motocross bike into an off-road bike with a handful of well-targeted changes. It still has a five-speed gearbox, but the gear ratios for third, fourth and fifth are taller. The cylinder-head volume, compression ratio, exhaust port, ignition mapping and power-valve shape were all altered. Softer suspension, a kickstand and a few other changes complete the transformation. BETA 200RR X-PRO (OFF-ROAD): $9499 If you’ve been around long enough, you remember when the 200cc two-stroke was the king of the off-road world. The 200RR is an excellent tribute to that time. It got the “X-Pro” rebranding for 2025 like all other standard-edition Beta off-road models. This has an electric starter, oil injection and Sachs suspension. For 2025, it has a lower seat height and new, slimmer bodywork. HUSQVARNA TE150 (OFF-ROAD): $10,249 Last year the Husky TE150 received throttle-body EFI with an electronic power valve, and now it’s been further refined. The TE150 makes excellent low-end power for a small-displacement two-stroke. The price is intimidating, though. It’s built on the same basic platform as the TC150 motocross bike, but is far more expensive for reasons we don’t quite understand. HUSQVARNA TC150/TC125 (MOTOCROSS): $8549/$8299 Husqvarna has a new 150 motocross bike for 2025. It’s essentially the same bike as the TC125, but has a 4mm-larger bore to bring the displacement to 144cc. Both bikes have a new-generation frame and bodywork. The 125 has had considerably more development in mapping, which integrates the fuel injection, ignition and power-valve position. GASGAS MC150/MC125 (MOTOCROSS): $7849/$7599 For 2025, GasGas is on the same page as KTM and Husqvarna; no more hand-me-down technology. That means the new 150 two-stroke motocross bike will come in GasGas colors, just like the other, more expensive brands. The MC150 and MC125 also get the newest frame. Unlike other GasGas models, these have a map switch to toggle between rich and lean settings. KTM 150XC-W (OFF-ROAD): $10,199 Over the last two years, there’s been a remake of all KTM two-strokes. Some weren’t received as well as others. This one, however, was a hit from day one. The 150XC-W with throttle-body fuel injection was a big improvement over the previous model, which had Transfer Port Injection. The new 150XC-W still features PDS no-link rear suspension, a spring fork and oil injection. KTM 150SX/125SX (MOTOCROSS): $8449/$8199 In 2023, KTM made a radical change to the 125SX. It got throttle-body EFI but lost its carburetor and kickstarter. Many thought it was a step backwards. Now, the 125 has been refined with new programming and a new frame. It is joined by the 150SX, which has a 4mm increase in bore to bring the displacement up to 144cc. In many racing venues, the 150 is allowed to race with 125s. BETA 125RR X-PRO (OFF-ROAD): $8599 This is Beta’s tribute to the most traditional two-stroke fans. The 125RR still has a carburetor, a mechanical power valve, a kickstarter and you get the satisfaction of mixing oil in the gas yourself. For those who want more modern conveniences, Beta offers the 200RR with both electric start and oil injection. The125 gets a number of upgrades for 2025, including new bodywork. KTM 125XC (OFF-ROAD): $8499 For cross-country racing, where displacement is limited to 125cc, the 125XC is a pure-blooded competition bike. It’s very similar to the 125SX motocross model, but has a larger fuel tank, off-road suspension, a kickstand, handguards and an 18-inch rear wheel. It got a new frame for 2025, as well as comprehensive programming updates. SHERCO SE125 FACTORY (OFF-ROAD): $7999 Sherco did the unthinkable for 2025. The price of the SE125 actually decreased. Compared to the previous year, the price has come down $600. Despite that, it got updates in the airbox, subframe, bodywork, handguards and skid plate. The SE125 remains a mix of advanced and traditional technology with electric start, an electronic power valve, and a Keihin carburetor. YAMAHA YZ125 MONSTER ENERGY EDITION (MOTOCROSS): $7299 If you like the looks of the Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha team, you’re not alone. The YZ125 Monster Energy Edition is back after a one-year hiatus. It has full Monster Energy signage with black plastic and blue rims. The bike under it all is the standard YZ125, which got a moderate update just two years ago. YAMAHA YZ125 (MOTOCROSS): $7099 If you assume that the Yamaha YZ125 is slowly fading out of the limelight as more advanced two-strokes arrive, you assume wrongly. The YZ has actually undergone a renaissance after its updates of 2023. The bike itself hasn’t improved significantly, but it’s become more valued as other carbureted, kick-start 125s have vanished. The 125 buyer, as it turns out, is drawn to the YZ’s simplicity. YAMAHA YZ125X (OFF-ROAD): $7199 There’s still a place for the 125 two-stroke in the off-road world. The YZ125X is similar to the motocross version, but has an 18-inch rear wheel, an O-ring chain, a kickstand and a fuel tank petcock with reserve position. The motor has a revised compression ratio, different power valve timing and ignition mapping. The six-speed gearbox and fuel-tank capacity are the same as those of the MX model. KAWASAKI KX112 (MOTOCROSS): $5649 Why a 112? That’s the maximum size allowed by the AMA rulebook in the Supermini class. In order to qualify for this class, Kawasaki did more than just punch out the KX85. Both the bore and the stroke were altered, which allows a more proportional increase in the dimensions, beyond what dad can create in the garage. The KX112 has a 16-/19-inch wheel combo. GASGAS MC85 (MOTOCROSS): $6449 In the past, GasGas has been forced to wait while KTM and Husqvarna were updated first. Not this year. The 2025 MC85 is almost all new. The frame is the subject of the most extensive redesign, but the bodywork, the airbox and the subframe have also been rethought. There’s a big-wheel version that sells for around $200 more. HUSQVARNA TC85 (MOTOCROSS): $6949 You might think that Husqvarna is a brand that targets mostly older riders. Perhaps, but there’s a whole generation of kids who have never heard of anyone named Heikki or Torsten. The TC85 has now earned credibility with a new generation. Like those bikes, it has a new frame and bodywork. The Big Wheel version is $300 more. The TC85 with big wheels sells for $7149. KAWASAKI KX85 (MOTOCROSS): $4949 Today, the KX85 offers incredible value, even if it gives away some performance to the European offerings. The last update for the Kawie came in 2022 when it got a new look, as well as changes to the gearbox, cooling system and tires. The Kawasaki still has a lower seat height than many other bikes in the 85 class and is excellent for younger, smaller riders. KTM 85SX (MOTOCROSS): $5749 The newest, most heavily redesigned bike out of Austria for 2025 is the KTM 85SX. It looks completely different, primarily due to its new frame and bodywork. It still retains many of its trademark features, like no-link rear suspension and the WP Xact air fork. For bigger riders, KTM also offers the 85SX with a 16-/19-inch wheel combo for $7049. YAMAHA YZ85 (MOTOCROSS): $4999 Yamaha isn’t content to stand on the sidelines while Austrian bikes take over mini racing in the U.S. At the 2024 Loretta Lynn Amateur Nationals, the 85cc classes were 95.3-percent KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas. The remainder were YZ85s, yet Yamaha accounted for one third of the podium finishes. The YZ85 is unchanged for 2025, but so is the price. The Big Wheel version is $5199. COBRA CX65 (MOTOCROSS): $5998 In terms of national championships, what is the most successful MX brand in the world? Cobra! The Michigan maker has earned over 300 amateur championships. Last year the CX65 got a new frame, and now the development continues with a new swingarm among other things. It has a six-speed gearbox powered by a case-reed motor with a Mikuni carburetor. GASGAS MC65 (MOTOCROSS): $5549 In 2024, the GasGas MC65 received a new steel frame and polyamide subframe among other changes. The 2025 model has only minor refinement. It still has features that shame many full-size motocross bikes, like a hydraulic clutch, adjustable seat height, a pressure-actuated power valve and Formula hydraulic brakes. Maxxis tires are standard. HUSQVARNA TC65 (MOTOCROSS): $5849 The Husqvarna TC65 looks like a full-sized motocross bike until you see it next to a regular 250 or 450. Even then, you aren’t sure if it’s small or if the other bike is a giant. The little Husky got a major redesign last year and now returns with minimal changes. It still has a six-speed gearbox, a WP Xact air fork and no-linkage rear suspension. KAWASAKI KX65 (MOTOCROSS): $4249 Kawasaki virtually invented the 65 class. Today’s KX65 isn’t especially competitive at the highest levels of amateur racing, but it’s affordable and gives a young rider all the tools he needs to advance in the world of riding and racing. It has a manual clutch, a six-speed gearbox and hydraulic disc brakes. The price is actually less than most 50s. KTM 65SX (MOTOCROSS): $5499 The 65SX isn’t cheap by any means, but when parents complain about the price, they overlook the fact that, feature for feature, it has everything that a full-sized motorcycle has. That includes a 6-speed gearbox, a hydraulic clutch, hydraulic disc brakes and WP suspension. The KTM 65 is very similar to the 65s from Husqvarna and GasGas. YAMAHA YZ65 (MOTOCROSS): $4899 When the modern-day YZ65 was introduced just five years ago, it closed a gap in the Yamaha line. Now, the company has a bike for every age. That’s very cool for the very youngest riders who started off on a PW50 and want to stay blue. The YZ65 doesn’t give away much to the more expensive bikes in that class and allows little Eli to save up for his college fund. COBRA CX50SR (MOTOCROSS): $4995 Cobra is rightfully proud of the string of champions who earned their first title on the CX50SR, aka the “King” Cobra. It has a U.S.-made case-reed motor, a hybrid oval twin-spar frame and CARD suspension. There is also a CX50FWE (Factory Works Edition) that sprinkles titanium parts throughout the bike for $5958. COBRA CX50JR (MOTOCROSS): $4895 Even Cobra knows that not every kid starts off doing backflips and heel clickers. The CX50JR is the entry-level model of the CX line. It has smaller wheels and 10-inch cast wheels with 170mm of suspension travel for a lower seat height. It also features a great deal of adjustability, because little riders have a tendency to become big riders very quickly. GASGAS MC50 (MOTOCROSS): $4849 Like the entire GasGas line of motorcycles, the MC50 is closely related to counterparts in the KTM and Husqvarna lines, but it’s just a little more affordable. Last year the GasGas was neglected, while the KTM and Husky were updated with a new frame, new bodywork and extensive changes. Now, the GasGas is on the same page as its siblings. HUSQVARNA TC50 (MOTOCROSS): $5049 One year after the biggest redesign in its history, the Husqvarna TC50 returns with minimal changes. It has an automatic clutch and transmission, and features multiple positions for the subframe, rear shock and handlebar to fit a wide variety of riders. The brakes are hydraulic, and the tires are Maxxis Maxxcross MX-STs. KTM 50SX (MOTOCROSS): $4949 The KTM 50SX was redesigned last year to the delight of all 6-year-olds. Happily for the parents of all 7-year-olds, the 2025 model is unchanged. It still dominates mini racing in the tiny classes. The seat height can be altered through different shock mounts, it has hydraulic brakes, an automatic clutch and WP suspension. YAMAHA PW50 (OFF-ROAD): $1849 Paleontologists have recently discovered cave drawings that depict cave kids riding what appear to be Yamaha PW50s. One of the stick figures appears to be a young Tom Webb. The PW50 has been an institution in the dirt bike world for a very long time. Between its two-stroke one-speed motor, automatic clutch and shaft drive, it’s nearly indestructible, so the ones from the cave are probably still in service. 125cc TWO-STROKE 24 HOUR ENDURANCE PROJECT : 2-STROKE TUESDAY
MotoFactory опубликовал тема в Мотокросс
On this week’s 2-Stroke Tuesday we are featuring our latest 125cc off-road build with “Pit Boss Bob Tryon” for this years 3-Brothers Racing sponsored 24 Hour Endurance Race held at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino California. During this project there was one phrase being mumbled all the time, “Keep It Simple” ! Sometimes when preparing for a long off-road event things can get over-complicated and that can cause huge chunks of time to be lost during the race. Concentrating on the basics simplifies the process and makes it easier to execute when the brain is sleep deprived. Ty Renshaw did all the major turning of wrenches on this project with a complete ground up rebuild . Lots of Husqvarna OEM parts were utilized internally when rebuilding the engine and key aftermarket companies products were used externally. The light system was also configured by Ty Renshaw using Baja Designs lights powered by rechargeable drill batteries. Here is a close up version of the battery system that powers the light. Each battery will run both lights for about an hour and was changed during every rider exchange. The drivetrain consisted of a gold race chain and Dirttricks sprockets. The OEM rear chain guide and sliders were replaced by TM Designs units because they are practically indestructible ! The Bills Cone Look pipe adds performance and makes it look insanely cool. The IMS oversized tank fitted with a quick fill system allows 3 gallons on gas to be transferred in seconds. ASV made us some black and silver folding levers along with brake and clutch master cylinder covers that matched our overall color scheme. Dunlops brand new AT82 tires were mounted up on a new set of wheels from Faster USA. Dunlop mousses inserts were used eliminating the chance of flats. The Bills MX2 silencer gave the bike a wicked note! Bob Bell and the crew at Precision Concepts took care of all the suspension needs for this build. Up front they replaced the air fork system using a 6500 kit from WP Suspension and reworks the valving. In the back Precision Concepts also reworked the shock valving internally and changed the spring rate to match the front. Look for the complete writeup on this bike in the January 2025 printed issue of Dirt Bike Magazine.
