  1. We sent Ron Lawson to the Himalayan mountains to get him out of our hair for a couple of weeks. He came back with stories and photos of the Moto Himalaya Mustang tour through Nepal where he rode the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 from Kathmandu to the forbidden kingdom of Mustang, right on the Chinese border. Here’s how it looked from behind the bars. The post CROSSING THE HIMALAYAS BY MOTORCYCLE appeared first on Dirt Bike Magazine. Просмотреть полный текст статьи
  2. Kawasaki is back in the Special Edition market and they are going in for the kill. Team Green is giving yo a glimpse into the machine of a factory racer with the introduction of their 2025 KX450SR. Below is the official information and images on the new model from Kawasaki: Following its successful debut in 2022, the new KX450SR motorcycle is set for a highly anticipated return for 2025. The “SR” or Special Racer designation, once exclusive to Kawasaki factory racing machines, signifies the peak of Kawasaki race performance. The KX450SR is purpose-built with high-value components proven by the Monster Energy® Kawasaki race team in Monster Energy Supercross and AMA Pro Motocross Championships. Building on the popular KX450 platform, the KX450SR is crafted for riders aiming for the top step of the podium. The bike features elite racing components, special tuning, and design elements inspired by the Monster Energy® Kawasaki race team, enhancing both its performance and factory racer aesthetics. 2025 KAWASAKI KX450SR HIGHLIGHTS: Factory race team-inspired colors and graphics 449cc 4-stroke, DOHC, DFI®, liquid-cooled engine Modified cylinder head with polished intake ports Pro Circuit Ti-6 titanium exhaust system Optimized ECU/DFI settings Kawasaki racing by Hinson clutch cover 49mm Showa Coil-Spring fork with Kashima Ti02 coating and model-specific settings Showa rear shock with Kashima coating and model-specific settings XTRIG Rocs-Tech triple clamp with PHDS (Progressive Handlebar Damping System) Renthal rear sprocket and D.I.D gold chain I.D Dirtstar ST-X black rims Metallic magnesium gold color cylinder head cover ENGINE The 449cc lightweight engine package utilizes input derived directly from the engine design of the 2024 KX450 motorcycle and feedback from the Monster Energy® Kawasaki race team. Just like the KX450, the KX450SR engine features an electric start activated by the push of a button and powered by a compact Lithium-ion battery. A lightweight finger-follower valve actuation design comes by way of Kawasaki’s top-level road racing technology and WorldSBK engineers, enabling larger-diameter valves and more aggressive cam profiles. The KX450SR features polished intake ports that provide smoother airflow, contributing to increased engine performance compared to the KX450. A close-ratio five-speed transmission is paired with a high-capacity coned disc-spring hydraulic clutch that helps facilitate control and provides a consistent feeling even under heavy use. Utilizing the same power mode system as the KX450, the KX450SR uses an Aggressive power map instead of a Mild map in addition to the Normal map, with the Aggressive settings developed with racer feedback to make it well-suited for competitive riding. Just like bikes used by the Monster Energy® Kawasaki factory race team, a lightweight Pro Circuit Ti-6 Pro titanium race exhaust has been fitted to the KX450SR and contributes to increased engine performance and expels a high-performance exhaust note. Engine ECU fuel injection settings, polished intake ports and exhaust system are exclusive to the KX450SR and work together to offer stronger power and torque at mid- to high-rpm compared to the base model KX450, providing controllability and factory-spec high-performance riding for skilled motocross riders. CHASSIS The same lightweight aluminum perimeter frame found on the KX450 is utilized for the KX450SR, providing precise cornering through excellent front-end feel and agility when riding at high speeds. The frame’s lightweight construction is composed of forged, extruded, and cast parts, while the engine is used as a stressed member and adds to the frame’s rigidity balance. Engineers carefully selected the dimensions of the swingarm pivot, output sprocket and rear axle locations to focus on the center of gravity and balanced handling. SUSPENSION The KX450SR features exclusive suspension settings for increased suspension performance and closer resemblance to the Monster Energy Kawasaki factory racers. Just like the factory race machines, the fork tubes have a dark navy blue titanium coating for reduced stiction and higher durability. Large-diameter inner fork tubes are the same size as used on the bikes by Kawasaki’s factory racing team and allow for the use of large 39mm compression damping pistons and a 25mm cartridge cylinder, providing smooth action and firm damping. The forks have a Kashima coating to create a low-friction inner surface that helps prevent wear so the sliding surfaces remain smooth for a long time. The Showa rear shock offers dual compression adjustability so that high-speed and low-speed damping can be tuned separately. Utilizing feedback from Kawasaki’s factory race teams, the 22mm front axle enhances front-end traction. The New Uni-Trak® rear suspension linkage ratios have been selected to suit the chassis. Holding up the Showa front forks is a set of XTrig ROCS (revolutionary opposing clamp system) tech triple clamps that help to improve fork flex action for more optimal fork function. The upper triple clamp is outfitted with XTrig’s PHDS (progressive handlebar dampening system) handlebar mounts that are lightweight and improve the responsiveness of the fork and is supported by elastomers which are designed to absorb vibration from the engine and chassis. This system also helps to dampen the forces acting on the handlebars in both horizontal and vertical directions, translating into increased steering precision for the rider. With this system, the handlebar can be adjusted in 12 different positions to suit rider preference. BRAKES & WHEELS Adorning the KX450SR is a pair of D.I.D DirtStar ST-X wheels, improving the strength and durability under the most challenging conditions on the racetrack. The black coating on the rims emulates the looks of a factory race machine. Further adding to the attention-grabbing appearance of the KX450SR is the championship-proven combination of a D.I.D 520ERT3 gold chain fitted to a black Renthal Ultralight aluminum rear sprocket. Handling the stopping duties is an oversized 270mm, petal-shaped front brake rotor from the renowned manufacturer, Braking®. The rear is equipped with a 240mm petal-shaped Braking rotor coinciding with the large front disc. ERGONOMICS Kawasaki continues its unmatched commitment towards providing riders with class-leading ERGO-FIT® adjustable components to fit a variety of riders and riding styles. The footpegs feature dual-position mounting points, with a lower position that reduces the standard setting by an additional 5mm, reducing the knee angle when taller riders are seated. STYLING In addition to the already sharp, aggressive styling found on the KX450, the KX450SR motorcycle showcases special colors and graphics inspired by the Monster Energy® Kawasaki race team machines. Also adding to its true race machine looks is a Hinson Billetproof® clutch cover featuring the Kawasaki Racing Team logo that improves heat dissipation as well as a Pro Circuit Ti-6 Pro titanium exhaust that features a special green decal. A Metallic Magnesium Gold color can be found on the engine cylinder head and a lime green Renthal handlebar pad completes the KX450SR racing aesthetics. 5. I spent the last two weeks in a very strange world riding a Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. This is a new motorcycle to the U.S. but certainly not a new company. Royal Enfield is legitimately the oldest continuously run motorcycle maker in the world. The British company started in 1901 and hasn’t missed a year of production since then. A factory was opened in India in 1955, and now that’s where all the models are made. They served the domestic market well, but for years Enfield has been thought of exclusively as a retro brand in the west. With the Himalayan 450, that will change. This is a modern motorcycle designed in the U.K. to serve the adventure market. The real attraction is the price. The base model sells for $5799; basically half the price of a KTM dual-sport. DJ Osborne on the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 in Nepal. To be fair, the Himalayan wasn’t developed from racing stock like KTM, Husky and Honda dual-sport bikes. It was conceived from the start as an adventure bike. It comes standard with a rear luggage rack, crash-bars, 4.5 gallons of fuel capacity and a frame-mount windscreen. All that stuff ups the weight to over 400 pounds. As I mentioned, I rode the bike for a good two weeks in a different world–I was literally in the Himalayan mountains. I couldn’t attend the U.S. press launch of the bike in Park City, Utah last month and the people at Royal Enfield then asked if I would like to attend one of the company’s adventure tours. It was called the Moto Himalaya Mustang ride, which started in Kathmandu, Nepal and trekked to the ancient kingdom of Mustang, right on the border of Nepal, Tibet and China. I said yes. I’m not crazy. The standard Himalayan 450 sells for $5799. This version is $5999. For now, I’ll save the stories of that ride for later and focus on the bike. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much. The Himalayan 411 that came before this model was basically a throwback to another time. It was cheap, air-cooled transportation but had little else going for it. The 450 has nothing in common with that bike. It has what they call the Sherpa motor, which is a DOHC six-speed with fuel-injection. It’s a little bulky compared to a premium-level 450, but otherwise is perfectly modern. It’s mated to a steel frame and Showa suspension. The brakes are Bybre, which is owned by Brembo. It has antilock brakes which have four user-defined modes. There’s a handlebar switch that allows you to select the amount of intervention at start-up. The new Sherpa motor is the most modern engine Royal Enfield has yet produced. In terms of outright performance, the Sherpa motor is right in line with any other EPA-approved 450 in the U.S. It perhaps doesn’t have the low-end snap of a Honda CRF450RL, but is otherwise right in the hunt. Its fuel-injection system is downright amazing. Our ride went as low as 2600 feet and as high as 15,500 feet above sea level. It kept going and going. At those extreme altitudes, you lose power, but the bike always ran clean, was easy to start and never stalled or misbehaved in any way. Once we got down a little lower, we found it would crack 160 kph in the dirt. At least, that’s what the electronic multi function instrument up front said. That translates to over 100 mph. The windscreen is frame-mounted. The suspension is another big win. It’s soft, but then it should be soft. After spending hours, days and weeks in the saddle it turns out that the Himalayan is a super comfortable bike. I especially appreciated the fact that you could raise the seat height. The bike’s weight is, of course, its biggest drawback. There’s no getting around the fact that it’s heavy. Think of a Kawasaki KLR650 and you get the idea. The Royal Enfield motor has more peak power than the Kawasaki, but less torque. The big question that anyone has with bikes that are not manufactured in Europe or Japan revolves around reliability. Normally, we can’t say much about that. A magazine press bike rarely gets very much time. In this case, the Moto Himalaya Mustang ride had a sample of 17 Royal Enfield 450s, all ridden day after day. There were no mechanical issues. The bikes were crashed, certainly, but even so, there was never anything more serious than a bent lever or two. I’ll have more on the Himalayan in the December issue of Dirt Bike. And stay tuned for a report on the ride itself. Man, do I have stories to tell! See you next week! –Ron Lawson The post RIDING THE ROYAL ENFIELD HIMALAYAN 450: THE WRAP appeared first on Dirt Bike Magazine. Просмотреть полный текст статьи

  8. NEW KLIM ADV TRAVEL VIDEO SERIES & A PRODUCT SNEAK PEEK KLIM has been engineering high-end adventure motorcycle gear for well over a decade, including jackets, pants, helmets, goggles, gloves, boots and more. This fall, however, they’re releasing something that can’t be worn: an authentic video series highlighting an adventure ride down the length of South America while testing early prototype products. The series, aptly named “Ride To The End” (RTTE) is a travel-adventure video production with no camera crew, no support vehicle and only a loose plan for where to go and when to get there. The team at KLIM figured if they were going to be riding thousands of nonstop product testing miles, they might as well film it. Their main goal was simply to document the excitement, fascination and realities of motorcycle travel in a foreign country and – most importantly – avoid over-dramatizing the experience. Episodes will be released every week on the KLIM Motorcycle YouTube channel. Starting in Colombia, Tolga and Lukas will join with two friends from the motorcycle community named Sasa and Mariana to explore the country home to the northernmost point of South America. From there, the KLIM team will head off on their own into Ecuador to ride with their boss, KLIM’s VP of Marketing, John Summers. Further down the continent, they plan to meet with KLIM President and Founder, Justin Summers, and Motorcycle Product Line Director, Jayson Plummer, to get them out of the office and into the field for some good old fashioned adventure riding. As the fall season in the Northern Hemisphere gets underway and the days get shorter, jump on the KLIM Motorcycle YouTube channel and feed your curiosity for motorcycle adventure and entertainment with their new RTTE series. 10. A YZ500 two-stroke just might be the one bike that Yamaha needs to produce ASAP! We teamed up with the crew at BRC Racing in Canada, Yamaha and a few other industry leading companies to produce that exact machine. On this week’s 2-Stroke Tuesday brought to you by Decal Works we give you the first look at our completed project. We took a stock 2023 Yamaha YZ250 chassis and replaced the 250cc engine with a 500cc engine produced by BRC Racing in Canada. Of course we just couldn’t resist changing the look of the stock machine with all black plastics from Acerbis, custom graphics from Backyard Designs, all black seat cover from Seat Concepts and an Edge Wheel set from Dubya USA. The pipe is made specifically for the BRC Racing engine and is included in the kit. We installed a set of Edge wheels from Dubya USA and wrapped those in Mitas tires. We decided to install some additional traction with some aggressive IMS Products Core pegs and check out those FCP titanium mounting pins. The BRC engine is designed to bolt right into the modern Yamaha YZ250 chassis with out any major frame modifications needed. The Seat Concepts gripper seat cover is available now, we went with all black to match the color scheme of our project but they are available in a variety of color combinations. The radiator hose mounting locations need to be changed and different hoses are also needed. We installed an Xtrig ROCS triple clamp with PHDS handlebars mounts to help reduce some vibration. The BRC engine fits right into the YZ250 chassis using just about every inch of available space. With the build process completed and the studio shots done it’s time to hit the track! Stay tuned to our YouTube channel for our first riding impression. The post 2023 BRC YAMAHA YZ500 PROJECT : 2-STROKE TUESDAY appeared first on Dirt Bike Magazine. Просмотреть полный текст статьи

  14. Josh Toth Locks Up 2024 AMA National Enduro Championship with Win at KTM Zink Ranch National Photos By Mack Faint As the Redline Oil AMA National Enduro Series, presented by MSR and Beta Motorcycles, draws to a close, it’s down to the wire for many competitors in the championship hunt. More than 325 had the opportunity to advance in thestandings as they took on Zink Ranch in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. The location of the 1994 International Six Days Enduro (ISDE), Tulsa Trail Riders organized the ’94 Six Days EnduroFest to coincide with the race weekend. The group hosted a 30th anniversary reunion ride and banquet to recognize and reconnect former ISDE competitors with each other and fans. The KTM Zink Ranch National brought breezy, moderate temperatures in the mid-70s. Although, in the days leading up to the race, the location endured an extreme heatwave — prompting the series to scale back the number of tests. At 58 total miles, riders navigated hard-pack and rocky conditions with some dust thrown in. The first two tests were 7.5 miles each, followed by a 10-mile section. The fourth test was another 7.5-mile trail, and a 9.5-mile test wrapped up round nine. Overall Podium It’s been a phenomenal season for Enduro Engineering’s Josh Toth, who has secured all but two wins this season. The Connecticut-based rider kicked off the day in Oklahoma with two test wins in NE Pro1. Then, he took the runner-up spot in the final three tests. Toth’s stellar performance throughout the season helped him secure his first-ever AMA National Enduro Championship with one round to go. The NE Pro1 rider also has the honor of representing the U.S. on the Trophy Team at the ISDE once again, which will take place in Spain during October. “It was pretty nasty out there,” Josh Toth said. “The terrain is really unforgiving when you get out in the grass and stuff, so I just tried to be cautious and get through the first few tests smooth. And honestly, that was the best thing I could have done. It put me in the lead early. Then, I had a big crash in test four, but other than that, I just kept it up and steady. I’d like to thank my mechanic [Mike “Napper” Napieralski]. He does everything on my bike — rebuilds it between the rounds, does my suspension testing — he knows his stuff. It’s great to have him all year, and it’s been awesome working together. Plus, the whole Enduro Engineering crew, the NEPG crew that puts on these events, NOCO, my trainer Steve Hatch for helping out, and my girlfriend Nicole for coming out. There are so many people involved in my program this year. I don’t want to leave anyone out, but Bell’s Electric and Enduro Engineering really stepped up and let me do what I want to do. So, it’s been awesome.” After collecting his first win of the season at the prior round, Steward Baylor Jr. was eager to continue that momentum aboard his Red Bear Racing Kawasaki. He fell just shy of that, taking the runner-up spot at the KTM Zink Ranch National. Just 22 seconds off of Toth’s pace for the day, Baylor Jr. pushed hard from the start. He claimed second in class through the opening test, third through the next three sections, and ended the day on a high note with the Test 5 win. “I felt kind of comfortable all day,” Steward Baylor Jr. said. “The track was a good bit different than previous times in Tulsa. We’ve definitely had everything from mud to dust here, and today was really a good race course — a little bit dry in places, but, overall, the dirt was perfect. Very open, easy to pay attention and take big lines if you wanted to. But I know this track can bite you if you do that, so I tried to stay on the trail as much as possible and not flirt with those edges. I know there’s a lot of big, loose rocks. But, outside of that, I felt comfortable all day. I just couldn’t quite match Josh [Toth]. It’s kind of been the story all year, so he’s just been riding really good. I’ve been on years like that. Man, when you’re on one, it’s great. For him, it’s phenomenal. I’m looking forward to the future. I’d like to thank the whole team, my mechanic, my wife, and everybody that makes these things possible. All the crews, all the clubs that put these events on. I’ve always said it’s my favorite series. It takes a little bit more thought than just going out and racing head-to-head. You genuinely have to put some thought into these races, and I’ve always enjoyed this style.” Ricky Russell of Washington has had a challenging season. He started off the year with a fourth-place finish, but was plagued with injury for much of 2024. He was able to put his AmPro Yamaha on the box for the first time this year at round nine. He began the day with a fifth-place in NE Pro1 through the first test. The second test saw him earn fourth. Russell really showcased his talent on two wheels in Tests 3 and 4, topping those sections. In the last section, he earned third to secure third overall on the day. “It just felt good to be back up here battling with the guys,” Ricky Russell said. “I haven’t really been doing that this year, just been hurt all year and struggling. So yeah, I was happy to get a few test wins. Me and Stew [Baylor Jr.] were really close [in the last test], and I was hoping to get him. But Stew is always strong in the last test, and he got me by like 15 or 18 seconds. Happy to be on the box, so I’ll take it. I’ve got to thank Corey [MacDonald] first off. He always gives it his all on the bike. He goes above and beyond, so I got to thank him and the whole AmPro Yamaha team. Dunlop Tires were hooking up great out there, Seat Concepts, Factory Connection suspension, Flexx bars, just all of our awesome sponsors sticking behind us with such a rough year.” The post JOSH TOTH WINS ZINK RANCH NATIONAL AND 2024 AMA NATIONAL ENDURO CHAMPIONSHIP appeared first on Dirt Bike Magazine. 15. After a long season of racing the 2024 SMX Championship came away with two repeat title winners with Jett Lawrence in the 450 class and Haiden Deegan in the 250 class. Below is a recap of the night on the Las Vegas strip. Lawrence Brothers Battle for $1,000,000 SuperMotocross World Championship: Jett Takes Title Haiden Deegan Repeats as Champ in 250 SMX World Championship in Las Vegas Las Vegas, Nev., (September 22, 2024) The 2024 SuperMotocross World Championship came down to one final moto where two brothers, also teammates, battled for the sport’s premier championship and the one million dollar payday that comes with it. Team Honda HRC Progressive’s Jett Lawrence emerged with the championship crown for the second year after winning the inaugural title last year; the new series encapsulates the 17-round Monster Energy AMA Supercross indoor season, the 11-round AMA Pro Motocross outdoor season, as well as the two postseason Playoffs and World Championship with escalating points payouts. The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway delivered a thrilling night of racing to cap off the 31-round premier off-road motorcycle racing series, the SuperMotocross World Championship. Photo Credit: Feld Motor Sports, Inc. Team Honda HRC Progressive’s Hunter Lawrence challenged his younger brother right to the final checkered flag of 2024. Hunter earned the runner-up position in the championship and a $500,000 check via (3-2) moto finishes; the race format determines the event’s overall results with Olympic-scoring of two 20-minute plus one lap motos. Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Eli Tomac earned third place at the Las Vegas event, as well as the cool $250,000 championship payout that comes with it. Tomac put together strong (2-3) rides on the hybrid Supercross-motocross track at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Chase Sexton, along with the Lawrence brothers, entered the Las Vegas World Championship with enough points that a win would earn him the title. Unfortunately, Sexton’s night ended on the first lap of the first moto when he tangled with another athlete and pulled out of the racing. In the 250SMX Class, Troy Lee Designs Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Pierce Brown grabbed his first professional win with (2-1) moto scores, but the title went to Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Haiden Deegan. Haiden is also repeating his crown as a SuperMotocross World Champion and will take home his second $500,000 prize for the feat. “I want to start off by saying it’s sucked that we didn’t have Chase out there. I don’t know what happened, but I hope you have a speedy recovery. I’ve seen the video [and it] looked like it was just a bummer of a racing incident, so I want to send my prayers to him and hope he has a speedy recovery, or nothing too bad. And, I mean, it feels good [to win]. I sat out the Outdoors with injury, and it sucked, so it’s… good to come back and start where I left off. [I’m] super pumped. I’m happy but also it still sucks again because it’s against Hunter, so it’s a little harder to swallow but I’m just super happy with the team. This new bike is unreal, as you can see… Thanks everyone. I had to show up because the Australians came out, so I had to make sure I put Australia on top, either it was me or Hunter, so thanks to them.” – Jett Lawrence “Hopefully we gave the fans what they wanted to come and see, in a good battle all the way down to the wire. So, it was a fun race, regardless of the outcome I still had fun. That was a really good moto, and a huge thank you to the team. You know, they’ve been working their butts off all year, so thanks so much to everyone that makes it possible.” – Hunter Lawrence “I gave it my best. I just started behind them there, and did what I could, but we were all really fast tonight. They maybe had a couple little sections at the beginning [where] they were kind of sneaking away from me. So overall, [it was a] pretty good SMX series here [for me], and glad I was fighting towards the front of the races for this comeback. And just thank you to the team, all the fans, everyone… it’s good to be back.” – Eli Tomac In the 250SMX class, surprise winner Pierce Brown jumped quickly into second place in the opening moto, then followed that up with a strong moto 2 ride that saw him take the lead just before the midpoint. Brown’s overall event win catapulted him from seventh into third in the final championship standings. Haiden Deegan entered the event with a 19-point lead, but with a triple point payout he still needed to earn at least third overall to guarantee the title. Deegan won the first moto and charged up to second in the final moto to grab the championship with a total of five post-season moto wins. Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Jordon Smith earned third place on the night with (5-3) moto scores. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Tom Vialle started the night’s racing in second place in points, but a disappointing final moto ended his title hopes. His (3-8) moto finishes were enough to land him second in the championship. “I’m speechless right now. I mean, I feel like this win has been long overdue. We’ve been working really hard the last couple of years, and I’m just so stoked we got it done. I can’t thank my team enough; everybody behind me, Will, the whole TLD GASGAS team, I mean everybody. It’s just been a fun run. As our [“Venom: The Last Dance”-themed] gear says, this was the last dance so we ended on top, so I’m stoked.” – Pierce Brown, referencing the GASGAS team that is not returning in 2025. “It feels good. Back-to-back is definitely a dream come true. I worked my butt off ever since I was a kid to get here, so thank you to my family, my team Star Racing Yamaha, my trainer Swaney, just everyone in my circle. Man, it takes a big team to do this, and a lot of hard work, so thank you, guys.” – Haiden Deegan The post 2024 SUPERMOTOCROSS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP: REPEAT TITLE WINNERS appeared first on Dirt Bike Magazine. 17. GASGAS COMES OUT SWINGING WITH A SPECIAL EDITION 2-STROKE ENDURO BIKE – THE EC 300 GP! NEW MODEL FINISHED WITH A VIBRANT LOOK AND BUILT WITH THE VERY BEST TECHNICAL ACCESSORIES GASGAS is adding some serious spice to its 2025 line-up with the arrival of the new EC 300 GP! This very special, limited edition enduro bike is the first of its kind and built to pay homage to every champion that’s ever raced a GASGAS to an enduro world title. And doesn’t it just look the business? We’ve taken the super-fun-to-ride and very capable EC 300 and added some of the finest Technical Accessories to boost performance, durability, and overall rideability. And we can’t ignore the graphics, can we? Inspired by the design used on the World Championship-winning enduro bike from way back in 1994 – that’s some 30 years ago now – we’re bringing some 90s style to the present day to create a seriously cool-looking bike that we know you’re going to love! GASGAS reveals its first special edition enduro bike – the EC 300 GP! New model designed to take offroad performance to a higher level Find the new bike in GASGAS dealers this October We’ve been asked many, many times when we were going to launch a limited edition enduro bike and the answer is… right now! We really wanted to get this build spot on, and we’re so pumped on how it’s turned out.The first thing you’ll notice with the EC 300 GP is, without a doubt, the special graphics. By using a similar color scheme as the title-winning bike from the early 90s – that’ll be the 125 Endurocross, sports fans – the overall look is certainly sharp! But what ties the whole look together are the black rims, glossy black frame, and the two-tone style of the bodywork and grippy seat cover. And beyond the aesthetics, there’s a whole lot more going on… As you well know, when it comes to enduro, you’ll be faced with changing conditions. And that’s precisely why you’ll find a map select switch on the left side of the black NEKEN handlebars. This allows you to choose, and even change while riding, the engine map setting depending on the terrain. With Map 1 selected, slippery or technical sections become a whole lot easier to master, but when the going gets tough, Map 2 puts power to the ground in an instant and it’s also the perfect choice for using on classic special tests. A selection of Technical Accessories combine to maximize durability and ensure that no days on the EC 300 GP are cut short. A radiator fan that kicks into action when needed to keep things cool, while a skid plate protects the frame and motor. Black handguards fend off impacts and also prevent damage to the controls should you drop the bike. Then there’s a SUPERSPROX Stealth rear sprocket, which isn’t just super durable, but with its red-anodized center, it definitely adds a little extra spice to the bike, too. Last but not least, these fine parts complete the build of the EC 300 GP: a semi-floating front brake disc really improves braking performance in all conditions, while a front axle puller – anodized red, of course – speeds up wheel changes. And finally, we’ve wrapped the black rims with what may well be the best performing enduro rubber on the market –the new DUNLOP AT82 tires! Check out the full rundown of everything you’ll find on the new bike… Technical Highlights Vibrant graphics – Inspired by the GASGAS raced to victory in the 1994 Enduro World Championship! Black frame – Ties all the new components and graphics together perfectly. New bodywork – Creates a unique look for the EC 300 GP and provides plenty of contact surfaces to grip the bike with your legs. Seat cover – Black and red, and super grippy for complete control. Black NEKEN handlebars – For strength, flex, and a little more style. Black handguards – Protecting the rider’s hands as well as the clutch and front brake systems for when things get wild in the woods! Red front axle puller – Speeds up wheel changes for less time spent in the pits. Semi-floating front brake disc – Delivers outstanding braking power for every kind of rider. Strong rear brake disc – The wavey disc is stronger than what’s found on the standard EC 300 to help prevent it from bending. Rear brake pedal safety wire – The pedal tip is connected to the frame with strong wire to protect the pedal from any potential impact damage. Red SUPERSPROX stealth rear sprocket – Provides exceptional durability and a splash of color. Skid plate – Helps you glide over obstacles with ease while protecting the frame and motor. Map select switch – Offers two choices of power to suit the riding conditions. Radiator fan – Helps keep the motor cool when things get tough! Black rims – Adds plenty of style and strength to the EC 300 GP. DUNLOP AT82 tires – Providing grip and traction on every kind of surface. Webb Joins Team USA for 2024 MXoN Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cooper Webb to represent the U.S. and compete for top honors at this year’s Motocross of Nations MARIETTA, Ga. – September 18, 2024 – Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing is excited to announce that Cooper Webb will join Team USA and race the MX2 class aboard the YZ250F at the 2024 Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) Motocross of Nations. The team and the five-time Monster Energy AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross Champion are proud to represent the U.S. at the event with a rich history, which will be held this year at the Matterley Basin Circuit in Winchester, U.K. on October 4-6. Jim Roach – Yamaha Racing Department Manager for YMUS “It is exciting that Cooper Webb will be representing the USA and Yamaha Racing at the Motocross of Nations this year aboard our YZ250F. Cooper has raced MXoN before, and his experience will be very beneficial to Team USA.” Jeremy Coker – Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 450 Team Manager “We’re excited to race the Motocross of Nations again and represent the USA. It’s also great to have Coop ride one of our 250’s again. It’s been a while, but he was able to get some laps in and looked good. We’ll get straight back to work after the SMX finale this weekend and are looking to bring home another championship.” Cooper Webb – Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing “I’m so excited to be headed to MXON. It’s a fire drill situation and decision, but I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity. I was asked to ride a 250, so I spun some laps on Haiden’s bike and remembered how good the YZ250F is. I haven’t raced one since 2016, but I felt right at home with the few laps that I did. I will be all in on 250 prep after Vegas SMX, and I’m excited for the opportunity to represent my country. Let’s do this!” The post COOPER WEBB TO RACE 2024 MXON FOR USA appeared first on Dirt Bike Magazine. Просмотреть полный текст статьи

    KOVE MX250F RACE BIKE

KOVE dropped off some offroad motorcycles for us to test. This MX250F caught our eye and we had to capture some video for you guys to check out. This was a quick and dirty video that we came up with to show the bike and some of the parts they are testing with it. We had Carson Brown ride this thing a while back and surprisingly he didn’t break it! See what editor Mark Tilley had to say about this MX250F by KOVE! 20. If you haven’t seen our October 2024 printed magazine yet here is a look at the cover bike! This Yamaha YZ125 build started right after test rider Jacob Tilley qualified for the 2024 Mammoth Mountain Motocross held the end of June every year in Mammoth Lakes California. The track sits at almost 8000 feet above sea level so oxygen is scarce and bikes tend to run a little slower so engine builders and tuners come up with some very unique ways to make power. Pro Circuit sends a small army of their staff to the event every year, including Mitch Payton himself! We teamed up with Jared Hicks from Backyard Designs USA to come up with a completely custom red/white retro graphic kit making the red portions chrome and topped it off with an all black gripper seat cover from Seat Concepts. These P3 Carbon universal hand-guard shields are mounted on Cycra Reflex hardware and are almost indestructible . These exact shields have been on three different builds. We added the red chrome accents from leftover graphic material . Pro Circuit has 2 different maps loaded into the GET box that can be changed on the fly via a handlebar mounted switch. Here is that handlebar mounted switch we spoke about above. Our YZ125 features “customer spec” porting to the cylinder and a head cut specifically to be used at 8000 feet of elevation. Pro Circuit also installed a custom piston built to their unique specifications that can only be purchased through them. The bike comes stock with Vforce reed intake so we retain the use of that and then changed the jetting using a kit sold by GYTR in Europe. This build will run on a mix of VP Racing Fuels C-12 and MRXO2 mixed with Maxima Castor 927. The IMS Core MX pegs might look a little aggressive here but they offer a secure platform for the rider and can withstand a huge amount of abuse . Test rider Jacob Tilley prefers to use a GPR Version 5 Pro stabilizer kit that includes the split style top clamp and shock absorbing handlebar mounts. Faster USA built a set of wheels featuring their CNC machined billet aluminum hubs made 100% in the USA with certified US aluminum. The Pro Circuit R304 Stainless Shorty silencer really makes this build bark! We got to work with a bunch of industry leading companies on this build like Dunlop, Backyard Designs, Pro Circuit, Maxima, Faster USA, Precision Concepts, Seat Concepts, P3 Carbon, ODI, GET and GPR Stabilizers. Stay tuned for more this is just the beginning ! The post YAMAHA YZ125 PROJECT BEAR HUNTER : 2-STROKE TUESDAY appeared first on Dirt Bike Magazine. Просмотреть полный текст статьи
  21. JONNY WALKER SIGNS FOR TRIUMPH RACING ENDURO TEAM The Triumph Racing Enduro Team has announced the signing of elite enduro racer Jonny Walker. The Red Bull athlete is set to take on the full upcoming 2025 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, as well as select hard enduro and EnduroGP events, and a wildcard ride in this year’s AMA EnduroCross series. After three consecutive runner-up finishes in SuperEnduro, the Brit is targeting the top step of the podium in 2025 under the guidance of newly appointed Team Manager, motorsport legend Paul Edmondson. With a background in trials and over 15 years of enduro racing under his belt, Jonny brings a wealth of experience to Triumph Racing. As a three-time Red Bull Erzbergrodeo winner and multiple SuperEnduro race victor, he has proven his ability to win at the highest level. Under the leadership of former world champion Paul Edmondson, Jonny is focused on capturing his first world championship title with Triumph Racing. Jonny is set to make his competitive debut on his TF 250 at the Indoor Enduro of Champions at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena on October 5th, before getting into the 2025 SuperEnduro season. Jonny Walker: “I’m really excited to join Triumph! To be the first rider to represent Triumph Racing in enduro is special. It’s amazing to be part of the team, and I’m looking forward to working with Triumph going forward. My bike feels great already, which makes my job a lot easier! It’s great to have Paul Edmondson on board too, he has so much experience, not only in running successful teams in the past, but in racing himself, which will be invaluable. Having a British manager running a British team, with a British rider, is really exciting and something you don’t get very often. Hopefully we can make a strong start, put the bike on the top step, and claim some championships!” Ian Kimber – Head of Global Racing Programs, Triumph Motorcycles: “Signing Jonny is a massive step for us in building our enduro program. As one of the top riders in the sport, we know that he will demonstrate the capability of our enduro bikes in the best possible way. Changing to a four-stroke will obviously require some adjustment for Jonny, but initial testing has been incredibly positive, and he is confident that the bike is already prepared for competition at the highest level. Giving Jonny the backing of our Triumph Racing Factory Team, and the help and guidance of Paul, will ensure that he has the best possibility of winning and challenging for titles.” Paul Edmondson – Triumph Racing Enduro Team Manager: “The signing of Jonny is the icing on the cake! The fact we can offer a great bike with full factory support means, to me, that there’s only one way for him to go – fighting for race wins and championships. It is a great signing in many ways, and we as a team are very excited to work with such a great rider and person with so much potential!’ The post TRIUMPH SIGNS SUPER ENDURO SPECIALIST JONNY WALKER appeared first on Dirt Bike Magazine. 22. FMF KTM Factory Racing and Johnny Girroir are celebrating the 2024 Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series victory after clinching the overall championship with two rounds to spare at The Mountaineer round in West Virginia. Girroir rode his KTM 350 XC-F to a calculated 12th-place finish – eighth position in the XC1 Open Pro Class – at Round 11 to seal the most important title of his professional career in U.S. offroad competition. This season has been a remarkable one for Girroir, consistently finishing on the podium through the opening 10 rounds, including four victories along the way. That control of the championship saw him manage the race today and do what was required to claim the GNCC crown, adding it to his XC2 250 Pro Class title from 2021. Johnny Girroir: “This is my childhood dream and I took every path on the way to being here, took the hardest roads, and none of this has come easy. Anyone out there chasing their dreams, you can do it, keep on pushing and put your head down – keep fighting! Thank you to FMF KTM Factory Racing, the entire crew, my family, and everybody behind us for being part of this championship.” In what was his second race back from injury, FMF KTM Factory Racing teammate Ben Kelley – the 2021 GNCC Champion – navigated the dusty conditions to ninth position in the XC1 Open Pro Class, continuing to build race fitness through these closing stages of the season. Ben Kelley: “It was a tough day for me with the dust. I had a bad start and couldn’t work my way up through the field with the blinding dust… just didn’t have the comfort to be aggressive and make passes. We gained more seat time being back at the races though and we will keep pushing through the final rounds. Congratulations to Johnny and the team on bringing home the title this weekend.” FMF KTM Factory Racing Team Landers took home a pair of round victories at The Mountaineer GNCC, with KTM 250 XC-F equipped Grant Davis making it five-straight XC2 250 Pro Class wins to extend his points lead to 54 ahead of teammate Gus Riordan, who was fourth today. Brandy Richards earned back-to-back WXC race victories and sits second in the standings. Grant Davis: “I got the holeshot and was pumped going into the woods, because I knew that would be key today. We were rolling pretty fast today, aside from a pretty hard crash there in the late stages, but other than that it was a good day!” Brandy Richards: “It was a great race today. I was second off the start, made a few mistakes, but I was able to sprint to the end and brought it home on the last lap.” XC1 Open Pro Class Results 1. Jordan Ashburn, GASGAS 2. 23. As the 5th Annual BAJA 400 race set off at 5:01am for our 7x machine, there was more to this race then just a win. With the last 2 races having technicalities that would demote our overall position and rider changes, this victory felt great. From the pit crews and chase crews, communication was on point all day. Justin Morgan set off early morning to take the bike through the first half of the course, making up time on the bike ahead of him, he kept it smooth and consistent hitting his lines they mapped out during pre-run and making quick work at the gas only pit stops every approximate hour to top off. The hand off to Tyler Lynn at the main pit was incredibly smooth with each mechanic taking the sweet cool calm approach to a fast wheel change and fuel dump, Tyler set off to make the pass into P1 and secure the gap as he raced his 200mile section all the way to the finish line in just 8hrs 46min 56seconds a full 15 minutes in front of P2! Tyler road exceptionally this baja round, taking smooth calm approaches to the terrain and hitting his lines and marks seamlessly. The transition on the bike from resting to full throttle was like he was riding all day. Flip of a switch got right into the groove that Justin had already set the previous 200 miles. Justin once again dominated his section with an excellent example of baja savy skill. Creating and making up so much ground and time as he pulled in for the handoff to Tyler it was smooth sailing for the team. Everything clicked well this round of baja from riders to pit crews, everyone was dialed in! An amazing BAJA 400 wrapped up, now we prepare for the ultimate BAJA 1000 race this November!
